QUOTABLES!
quote of the day
It's no hyperbole to say I'd never before heard anyone who sounded like Frank Ocean.

It’s Tuesday and there’s still no new FRANK OCEAN album. The memes about it are as dried up and tragic as my hopes. While that hardly means there is no new music worth listening to, it does mean that think pieces are being published in force to speculate on the what and why of this (yet again) delayed release. Among the best is this one from THE ATLANTIC equating OCEAN with reclusive writer HARPER LEE. In short: stop waiting for the next great work of art from your favorite artist and enjoy the work that’s out there. You want to hear his music so badly? Go listen to CHANNEL ORANGE, followed by a playlist of the hits he's written for BEYONCÉ, KANYE WEST, JUSTIN BIEBER, JOHN LEGEND, and on and on… File under: everything old is new again. PITCHFORK made waves by telling the story of feminist punk in 33 songs. O.G. punk writer and musician VIVIEN GOLDMAN opens the piece, explaining the “volcanic social eruption” that pushed women into their own bands, from the RAINCOATS to RIOT GRRRLS. My suggestion: make this list into a playlist on your streaming platform of choice and get ready to riot…The OLYMPICS are in full swing and it’s making our taste for hot Brazilian music rise. “THE GIRL FROM IPANEMA” has been streamed 40,000 times a day since the games began on SPOTIFY alone. If the music scoring the OLYMPICS sounds familiar, that’s because it is yet again being scored by JOHN WILLIAMS.
