A long time go in an Internet far, far away, the BEATLES were the holy grail of streaming, the one band everyone wanted, the one cache of content everyone was sure could transform an industry. But that was 2005, when the big missing pieces from the streaming pie had names like LED ZEPPELIN and BLACK SABBATH. In 2015, the names have changed to ADELE and TAYLOR SWIFT, and I can't imagine there's a streaming service anywhere that wouldn't rather have either of them than any or all of the FAB FOUR. That doesn't mean it isn't still a big deal that the BEATLES reportedly will be available for streaming as soon as THURSDAY. It just means it's less of a big deal, and that the chance of the BEATLES changing the world again with 50-year-old songs, even if they're as good as "TICKET TO RIDE," is next to nil. The change has happened, lads, but we're still glad to have you... Metal "STAR WARS"... Bluegrass "STAR WARS"... DJs messing with "STAR WARS" for better or worse... MARIAH's "ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS YOU" has lost its perennial place atop holiday playlists... There are nearly 27,000 "SILENT NIGHT"s in SPOTIFY... THE WAITRESSES had no interest in writing or recording a CHRISTMAS song; you'll never believe what happened next... Best CHRISTMAS present ever: SHANE MACGOWAN's new teeth... RIP KURT MASUR.
