I have no need for another streaming music service and I'm certainly not about to start paying for a fourth one that has the same content as the three I'm already paying for. But I'll say this about YOUTUBE MUSIC: It's approachable, simple and unassuming, like YOUTUBE itself. Here's what's trending, here's what new, here's what you've already played sometime in the past. Pick one to start and we'll just keep going forever until you pick something else or turn us off. That’s the basic idea, maybe even the entire idea. Passive, populist entertainment, and I mean neither adjective as a criticism. Think of it as a PANDORA that isn't trying so hard and that's a lot less likely to get you reaching for SHAZAM. You can search for anything, too, and you'll probably find it, but if ever a music app made the search box seem like too much work and possibly beside the point, this is it. Of course, behind that search box is basically the entire music content of YOUTUBE, which is important. If they ever screw that part up, I'll be angry. But assuming that never happens, I'm OK with all of this... Also, I don't know if anyone cares anymore, but does this mean the BEATLES are now officially available for streaming, sort of?... Judge, um, shakes off TAYLOR SWIFT lawsuit... It's FRIDAY and that means new music from the reborn and reimagined JUSTIN BIEBER and the ZAYN-less ONE DIRECTION, as well as ONEOHTRIX POINT NEVER, TY DOLLA $IGN, ALESSIA CARA, ELO (or "JEFF LYNNE" if you prefer, but no, I will not under any circumstances call this thing "JEFF LYNNE'S ELO"), LE1F, COOL UNCLE, LOGIC, SAM GLEAVES and CHRIS ISAAK. And new old scraps of music from KURT COBAIN... RIP PHIL "PHILTHY ANIMAL" TAYLOR of MOTORHEAD.
