I remain perplexed, and will probably always be perplexed, as to why APPLE's upper management team felt the need to work around the clock on FATHER'S DAY to reverse their decision to not pay royalties during APPLE MUSIC's three-month free trial period. It was the "right thing to do," according to JIMMY IOVINE, who recalled last week how he, TIM COOK and EDDY CUE "dealt with it on the spot on a SUNDAY morning" after TAYLOR SWIFT publicly complained. But if it was truly the right thing to do, the question remains, why didn't they deal with it when BON IVER's JUSTIN VERNON complained, or when the BEGGARS GROUP complained? If it was truly the right thing to do, why were they publicily explaining their thinking behind doing the exact opposite thing only days earlier? And if THIS is now true, how can we get TAYLOR SWIFT to complain about this, too? Sometimes I wonder if APPLE and TIDAL are secretly competing to see who can make their launch weirder... Thank you, NEW YORK MAGAZINE, for reminding us that SELENA GOMEZ does not make her music all by herself. What made you choose to pick on her and not, say, DON HENLEY or MARK RONSON?... Someone has uploaded his collection of cassettes of K-MART instore music from 1988-1992 to the INTERNET ARCHIVE, and it makes for kind of amazing listening...
