I love the idea of consolidating the music fan experience across, and within, platforms -- making it easier, for example, for streaming music subscribers to buy concert tickets. I'm not so sure I'm sold on the idea of consolidating the businesses themselves, as in combining four industry giants into two, and then two into one. If I'm reading correctly between the lines of IAN HOGARTH's proposal for a "full stack music" approach, which is definitely worth a read, he's essentially advocating for both of these ideas as if they were one and the same, which they are not. Building bridges is great for music fans (and artists, too). Taking everybody else's bridges out of service after you have built your own is a little bit less helpful... No, copyright royalty board, please do not set different statutory royalties for indie and major labels. I'm not even sure how you would legally define a major label, short of just naming the exact ones you want to award higher royalties to... Yes, HAIM, please launch your own LILITH FAIR.
