Spent late Friday afternoon playing hookey at the movies without my usual partner in crime ROB GOLDBERG. He's a good son and was celebrating his mom, Paula. Went to see one of our best actors BRYAN CRANSTON in THE INFILTRATOR. Really liked it. Federal agents, drug dealers, money laundering, PABLO ESCOBAR, BCCI banking scandal and great performances from DIANE KRUGER and JOHN LEGUIZAMO. Killer opening song. Check, check, check, etc... That said, HOLLYWOOD needs to step up storytelling. Real life is crushing it. While in the movie I fought every temptation to check in on the failed coup in TURKEY which was just riveting. I think basically most decent countries on earth wanted the leader gone, maybe not a coup. Fascinating to listen to the careful verbiage of JOHN KERRY and POTUS. Sadly, The President is still in office and now the world has to watch as RECEP TAYYIP ERDOĞAN use this as an opportunity to take more power and liberties away. Democratically elected leader that goes against democracy? It can happen in places besides Turkey. Muzzle press, internet, police, military. Sigh... Much needed bright spot for VIACOM: COMEDY CENTRAL gets 30 EMMY noms... I didn't publish yesterday as I went up to SAN FRANCISCO with AT&T's TONY GONCALVES, JEFF BRADLEY and JOHN STANKEY for their SHAPE Tech Expo held at AT&T PARK, home of SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS. A pretty great day of informative panel discussions, a 24-hour hackathon, children maker camps, next-gen technology demos from partners and a performance from SILVERSUN PICKUPS. I was impressed. I started the day without a single hit in the batting cages. I've given AT&T crap over the years for mobile service but when you see the push for innovation and the investment in infrastructure inside such a big company it gives me new found respect. Great ideas coming to reality for the future of television, internet of things, home automation and more. Will keep an eye out. Even got my daily workout in walking around the infield for 13,000 steps. Ran so late I had to do an O.J. through SFO: running, not murder. Thanks to their team for hosting me... Good to see CHRIS CHRISTIE with some self respect... Happy Birthday yesterday to DOUG HERZOG, MATT GALLIGAN, WARRINGTON HUDLIN, CRAIG BARNETT, SHELBY BONNIE, and MICHAEL GROSS. Today: STEVE ROSENBAUM, MICHAEL POLE, PETE DISTAD and CHRIS M. WILLIAMS.
