Was late to BROADWAY phenomenon HAMILTON due to being stuck in LOS ANGELES for the 7 months. Finally saw it thanks to an amazing birthday present from my friend JUDY. Still processing and looking up things on the web about it and the history. In short, loved it. Super clever. Fantastic soundtrack and performances. Crowd was so jacked that it added to it. It's a lot to take in. Thank god the sets are sparse so I could concentrate on lyrics as I don't remember enough of the history. It's wonderfully overwhelming and you want to listen closely to follow the narrative. They jumped right in. No real build up. I need to see it again, but highly recommend it. Laughed out loud at the KING GEORGE III performance and lyrics. Was very lucky to see it on the day the show's creator and star LIN-MANUEL MIRANDA won the PULITZER PRIZE. My Mom loved the theater. We saw everything when I was young but I've only seen 3 shows in the last 30 years. This one made me think of the importance of live events. Often those words are uttered in relation to TV biz outlooks or when I notice kids at concerts on their phone recording video and taking selfies rather than watching the show. It's often more important to prove you were there than actually being present and in the moment. At a great Broadway show you watch and you listen. You're there. Another benefit? Kids (or big kids like me) run to their devices afterwards to learn more about history or refresh what they forgot. The theater holds 1300 people. The intimacy is great but you almost wish it was bigger so more people could see it... I've been the victim of "brain rape". I didn't know it until it was too late... RICHARD BRANSON and I talk about the importance of dreams, business and life at TRIBECA FILM FESTIVAL today at 4:15 pm... Really enjoyed the latest season of AMC's BETTER CALL SAUL. It's a slow burn and different than BREAKING BAD but great. Character development is stellar... R.I.P. to DORIS ROBERTS. Watching her on EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND gave my Mom lots of laughs over the years especially when she needed them the most... Happy Birthday to JOSH DERN, DAN HART and EMIL RENSING.
