With all the negative rhetoric and hate-baiting that politicans do these days, look at the thought and positivity of U2's BONO & THE EDGE on CNN today with FAREED ZAKARIA. I wish our leaders had such sense and compassion about recent attacks... I have the burden of almost infinite memory. I don't forget much, but I'm not great at organizing and prioritizing. At 44, I can't wing it anymore and I don't love the flood of items that swirl through my head at bedtime. Spent this a.m. with pal JEFFREY KATZENBERG getting his advice on organization and priority. I've always marveled at his talent for it. Going to start with some simple lists for business and life that will keep me on top of stuff without the anxiety and "burden." Also important to have people around you that you can depend on and delegate to. Simple things that I've often lost sight of... I've not been great in the last 18 years at a work/life balance. In fact, I suck at it but I'm trying. That said, pride in my work and caring about every ounce is something that I don't need to work on. If work is not your life, I applaud you. What I don't applaud is dialing it in. Not taking pride in your work. Not being awake and crafting with care. I see it a lot. Don't take the check if you can't deliver the goods. In a world where many say "ship fast," "break stuff," and more startup poster slogans - a lot subpar sh** gets handed in... I mentioned my frustration with furniture lead times recently as I set up a place in LA. Some startups may have an answer... Good things happen in the world too: here and here... MARTIN SHKRELI does look (and act) a little like Isaac from CHILDREN OF THE CORN... I knew I was dumb... You know people always say "you just need to accept people for who they are." Or you could just not talk to them ever again... They thought it was performance art... House of pain is still in effect... Happy Birthday to JONATHAN SHRIFTMAN, CRAIG NEWMARK and BRIT MORIN.
