ESPN’s MINA KIMES writes about what many of us are feeling when we watch the CHIEFS: How do you reconcile the horror of TYREKE HILL’s past actions and the thrill of watching him play? It is a question sports fans are having to answer too often these days. Separating the person from the player is easier to do in the NFL, when most stars aren’t sold on personality but on their greatness. Having reported on domestic violence suspensions in sports, I also know that an one-strike policy isn’t the best way to go, even if it may feel just and appropriately punitive. Kimes struggles with her dilemma like I do. Sometimes there are no answers but the discussion and inner turmoil is healthy… There may be no more glaring example of Kimes’ dilemma than FLOYD MAYWEATHER. He has become entirely unlikable. He addresses the domestic violence allegations from his past with disregard, as if he's a victim of media-created headaches. And yet he continues to earn as much, if not more, than any other athlete… LOS ANGELES gets another team it might not care that much about. The CHARGERS reportedly intend to follow in the RAMS' footsteps... LANE JOHNSON’S decision to sue the NFL PLAYERS ASSOCIATION is certainly a rarity. He was unhappy with how he was represented and protected when he was suspended for PED use. The only other player I can remember suing his union is ALEX RODRIGUEZ. That may not be the company you want to keep. That doesn’t mean Johnson’s case doesn’t have merit. But if you’re starting a battle with your own friends, who is left to protect you the next time around if Johnson needs it?... BRITAIN’s planned exit from the EUROPEAN UNION has created some issues for the NBA. The NUGGETS and PACERS are playing in London tonight but commissioner ADAM SILVER isn’t sure how the league will proceed going forward. That is just one of the many ramifications we’ll have to watch for with ENGLISH sports going forward. What happens to non-British players in the PREMIER LEAGUE?... This is what sadness looks like… We’re going to get to see ALLEN IVERSON play again, which is great. Even if it is a 3-on-3 league run by ICE CUBE. I hope he keeps dropping crossovers on everyone.
