Technical Lead

REDEF is looking for a tech leader who thrives on learning new technologies and doesn’t believe in one-size-fits-all solutions. This is a job requiring both hands-on and management skills.

Technical Ability

You should have advanced knowledge of Javascript, the main language that powers REDEF, and knowledge of or eagerness to learn: NodeJS, AngularJS, MongoDB, Redis, Ansible, and ElasticSearch.
In addition to having an intimate knowledge of the whole stack, you understand how all the pieces fit together (front-end, database, network layer, mobile apps) and how they impact the performance of your application. You take a holistic approach while being able to roll up your sleeves and going deep into the codebase. You’re able to anticipate product needs and stay one step ahead.
You know how to build and scale distributed systems. You stay up-to-date with the latest architectural trends. You are comfortable with continuous integration and fast-paced deployments. You feel comfortable taking ownership of iOS deployments, analytics, and support.

Organization

You should feel ownership over everything you ship and pride yourself on efficient monitoring, documentation, and proper test coverage. You set and adopt best practices to streamline operations and get the most out of your resources.
You’re able to scope out projects and get them done within a reasonable timeframe.

Leadership

You’re able to mentor and motivate a group of developers. You know what to look for when building out your team. You may even have a “go-to” group already in your network.
You are professional with vendors and know how to get the most out of them.

Initiative

You understand requirements beyond the written word and are able to spot potential issues upfront. You strive on proving that speed and quality are not conflicting; that you can achieve both at the same time.
You’re a self-starter who anticipates the future needs of the organization and plans accordingly.

Senior Frontend Developer

Skills you’d have:

A few years heavy involvement in Javascript
Experience with AngularJS and/or BackboneJS
Solid mastery of CSS & HTML
A love of good design and focus on elegant UX
Automation and production packaging experience (Grunt/Gulp)

Backend/API Developer

You are an experienced server-side JS developer with a curious mind. You like a fast-paced and flexible environment and to work with a small and highly-collaborative team. You want to work hard and grow with us as our product launches. You love music, tech, culture business and/or fashion, and want to immerse yourself in that content.

As the Senior Backend/API Developer, you’ll be leading the creation and distribution of our API and backend infrastructure. This includes:

Taking ownership of the existing NodeJS API.
Developing applications for data scraping, mining and structuring.
Helping to distribute, scale, and deploy the codebase
Connecting with various content providers to integrate data and functionality

To do this successfully, you need to have:

Strong JavaScript experience with building apps and APIs.
Solid NoSQL (MongoDB) and key/value store (Redis) experience
Experience with server architecture setup and deployment.
Knowledge of event processing, message queues, and caching.
Self-motivation and a strong desire to be part of a team helping each other.

And good to have:

Map/reduce and aggregation framework experience
Experience with the Android and/or iOS development platforms.
Deployment/CI experience with services such as CircleCI or Docker (or a strong desire to learn!)
