The Death Of Pitchfork
This is not a harbinger of what's to come, this is the last gasp of a dead paradigm. In other words, record reviews are history. We needed them. Because there was no way to hear most of the m...

Electric Cars
I don’t know anyone who will buy another Tesla. And I know a lot of people with Teslas, and they LOVE their Teslas! But they don’t like Elon Musk. If you’ve been following the news, it’s getting hard to sell electric cars. The Big 3, not so big anymore, are slowing development and production.

We’re watching a new English series, well an old English series, but I’m going to hold back the name, because if mention it I’ll hear from enthusiastic viewers about the plot, and this will depress me.

The Death Of Radio?
All you have to know is “Rich Men North of Richmond” went to number one on the streaming chart. Which is a bit complicated, because there’s on demand streaming and radio-style streaming, and YouTube and… But if you make it to number one, one thing is for sure, people are listening! It’s all about consumption.

The Kesha/Dr. Luke Story
This is the “Hit Men” of its day. But nobody seems to know this, because nobody seems to have read it, and you can’t unless you subscribe to the “Los Angeles Times,” which nobody seems to do anymore, the paper having shrunk itself down to near irrelevance. This story launched online six days ago. Was in print yesterday, on the front page. How many e-mails do you think I’ve gotten about it? ZERO!

The Cult Era
We all want to belong. First it was baseball, then it was the Beatles and finally it was MTV. We all paid attention, we all knew what was happening, and even the barely hip caught the references. Today you’ve got no idea what people are talking about, unless they’re a member of your cult.

Throwing Objects On Stage
This isn't about violence, this is about power. It’s not the twentieth century anymore. And the media and titans of yesteryear and those following in their footsteps are ignorant and unaware. The landscape has changed. For all the doody about adoration of artists, more people now believe artists are no better than they are. The emperor has no clothes.

Bob Lefsetz on Sinéad O’Connor
Would this have happened if she wasn't in the public eye? At this writing the cause of death has not been revealed, but I am not optimistic it was natural causes. They don’t make stars like Sinéad O’Connor anymore. There’s nowhere to project a unique talent to everybody simultaneously, to deliver to the public a unique voice that blows them away. That was the power of MTV.

Don’t Be Defensive
It just pisses people off. If you make a mistake, own it. You’ll get a whole hell of a lot more respect for that rather than trying to explain why you were right and should not be culpable. Nobody knows everything, and you’re not expected to. So, admit what you don’t know, it enhances your reputation. Funny, I find the more successful someone is the more they’re willing to admit they don’t know something.
