QUOTABLES!
quote of the day
If you think about it, the majority of victims last night are music fans. This is the first direct hit on music that we've had in this so called war-on-terror or whatever it's called. It's very upsetting. These are our people... I think music is very important. I think U2 has a role to play and I can't wait till we get back to Paris and play and that's what I'm feeling from the messages we're receiving from music fans is these people will not set our agenda. They will not organize our lives for us... You're not gonna turn us into haters or you're not gonna turn us around in the way we go about our lives.

If you write about politics or religion you're going to bring out both the good and the bad. I'm very moderate: Live your life as long as you don't hurt or hate. Lead with empathy, not by following fear. Yesterday, I got a lot of supportive messages but also too many telling me how to think and filled with venom and intolerance. I'm free to think that ignorant comparisons and hateful generalizations are dumb and I do. That's what *I* think. Me. REDEF is about thought, ideas and curiosity. But we do have opinions. Openness doesn't mean we have to agree or stay silent. Again, we believe evil is in the minority. BBC NEWS shows much of what I believe to be the majority here: Compassion and understanding in response to #ParisAttacks... Re-reading: WHAT ISIS REALLY WANTS... From pal GUY OSEARY, manager of MADONNA and U2: "Like A Prayer" - For PARIS, Stockholm Show. U2 cancelled their show in PARIS on Saturday night. No doubt they will be back to help heal the city. They did the same after 9/11. I will never forget that show in NYC and others in BOSTON and so on... Thankful to FACEBOOK for a great feature in response to all this... I highly recommend seeing the film BROOKLYN. Literally not one thing wrong with it. Felt like a perfect throwback to simpler times. Follows the adventure of an Irish immigrant coming to AMERICA looking for a different life. Amazing lead performance from the beautiful SAORISE RONAN (from one of my favs, HANNA). She reminds me of a glamorous actress from the 1940's. Hilarious supporting roles from JULIE WALTERS (maybe worthy of supporting OSCAR) and newcomer, JAMES DIGIACOMO... Happy Birthday ALFRED SPELLMAN.
