I'm still not cool with the idea that PRINCE is no longer here. I'm still unable to process it. It still sucks. It still snows in April, and my personal experience tells me it has snowed more in the past couple of Aprils than in previous Aprils. There's still ridiculously great music coming out of his Vault (which—are you sitting?—still looks like this). We're still not doing enough about opioids. This is still the best album anyone has ever made. I still can't handle that he never got to say goodbye, though maybe he wouldn't have wanted to. He was more the type to keep saying hello. He was open like that. He wasn't afraid to die. Saturday will be two years. Dammit... Minneapolis' STAR TRIBUNE on Thursday published a huge cache of public documents chronicling Prince's final days, including this detailed and tough-to-read account of his addiction... There will be a memoir... JANELLE MONÁE is one of the great inheritors of the Prince mojo—and his synth lines—and she tells the NEW YORK TIMES his death was one of the reasons it took her so long to complete DIRTY COMPUTER, which comes out next Friday. Prince "was the person that I would literally call and talk to about sounds or: ‘How should I say this? Is this saying too much?’" No, this is not saying too much... COACHELLA isn't live-streaming its second weekend on YOUTUBE, but you can hear the music on SIRIUS XM's Coachella Radio... Men should not be allowed onto the Coachella grounds this weekend until they sign an affidavit confirming they have read this horrific account of what it was like to be a woman on the Coachella grounds last weekend... The idea of VIVENDI spinning off UMG has moved from rumor to open conversation... Songs about getting high with WILLIE NELSON, ranked: 1. TOBY KEITH & SCOTTY EMERICK (2003). 2. WILLIE NELSON (2012). 3. JACK JOHNSON (2018). 4. BROTHERS OSBORNE (2018). (Brothers Osborne docked one spot because they're getting high with a Willie album, not Willie himself. Willie docked one spot because of conflict of interest)... It's FRIDAY and that means new music from J. COLE, ASHLEY MONROE, SLEEP, A PERFECT CIRCLE, BROTHERS OSBORNE, STING & SHAGGY, SMOKE DZA, OLD CROW MEDICINE SHOW, TERENCE BLANCHARD, HIRS COLLECTIVE, DEL THE FUNKY HOMOSAPIEN & AMP LIVE, LORD HURON, KIMBRA, BLACK STONE CHERRY, EXITMUSIC, JOSHUA HEDLEY, WALTER WOLFMAN WASHINGTON, MARCIA BALL, SHUGGIE OTIS, THIEVERY CORPORATION, DRINKS, ALEXIS TAYLOR, PETER ROWAN, DONOVAN WOODS, TESSERACT and PENNYWISE... Fun game: Guess how many of those acts are releasing music today because it's 4/20.
