Model Precious Lee Is Vogue.com’s First Guest Editor

Lee’s wellness series includes a beginner’s guide to breathwork and chakra healing, a strength-boosting kettlebell workout, and the one beauty product she can’t live without. 

Here, she explains her inspiration for the stories.


As a child growing up in the suburbs of Atlanta, where the woods were my backyard, I always felt grounded by a connection to nature. Now that I live and work in New York, I’ve had to find ways to transmute the frenetic energy of the city. I would travel to my favorite islands to immerse myself in nature, but back in NYC I’d have to hone in on different ways of experiencing that balance. For me creating that sense of wellbeing started when I began to learn more about breathwork; a few years back, I traveled down to New Mexico for a workshop with David Elliot, a breathwork instructor; the experience was truly transformative for me, one I’m excited to share in this series of wellness-related stories I’ve guest edited for Vogue.com. 

Between my interest in astrology, meditation, and prayer, I have always been a spiritual person, but understanding more about energy healing is something that I’ve become more focused on recently. In addition to breathwork, this story series includes a full breakdown of the tools I use to enhance my meditation practice, including sage, crystals, and singing bowls. Feeling strong in my physical body is essential to my wellbeing too, and has been particularly important in the last year. The confidence and core strengthening kettlebell exercises you’ll find here are some of go-to faves for working out. 

For the beauty product junkies among us, I’ve also included the one product I’m currently obsessed with. As we look to the future and begin to plan travel, a rejuvenating trip may be in order—always at the top of my list is Breathe Studio on the Caribbean island of St Thomas. Beyond providing yoga on a pay-what-you-can donation model, they help to fund mindfulness programs for children in the local area; a community approach to wellness that I think is expansive and nurturing.
