Jennifer Lopez and Shakira will join an elite club of performers next year, as the two superstars will take the Super Bowl halftime stage on Feb. 2, 2020, at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium. Previous halftime performers include Beyoncé, U2, Lady Gaga, The Rolling Stones and Bruno Mars.
After rumors started swirling early in September that Lopez would be the 2020 Super Bowl halftime performer, she took to Twitter on Sept. 26 to confirm the news — and to reveal that she would have some company in co-headliner Shakira.
On the latest Billboard Pop Shop Podcast (listen below), the team discusses why the pairing of Lopez and Shakira for the halftime show makes total sense — from why a co-billed show is a sensible option to how the teaming of two stars with Latin roots is a great fit for a Miami-based Super Bowl, and beyond.
Elsewhere on the podcast, hosts Keith and Katie review the latest chart news — including how Post Malone’s “Take What You Want,” featuring Ozzy Osbourne and Travis Scott, debuts on the Mainstream Rock Songs airplay chart, and how Kygo and Whitney Houston’s “Higher Love” bows on the Pop Songs airplay chart (granting Houston her first hit on the list in 19 years).
