  • Boyd Jarvis has died at the age of 59. The musician and producer was influential in the evolution of house and US garage, crafting deep, emotive music as both a solo and collaborative artist. He worked behind the scenes with stars like Prince, Madonna and Herbie Hancock, as well as fellow dance music acts François K, Joe Claussell and Timmy Regisford. Together with Regisford he hosted a radio show, Saturday Night Dance Party, on New York's WBLS. Jarvis was diagnosed with cancer in 2016. Last year a fundraising party had taken place at New York nightclub Output. Listen to Visual's "The Music Got Me," a track co-produced by Jarvis that came out in 1983 on Prelude Records.
