To determine the top songs of 2017 (upon which the Hitmakers list is based), Variety teamed up with BuzzAngle Music, which created a custom chart that factors audio streams, video streams, song sales, radio spins and Shazam tags. These 30 most consumed tracks of the year are ranked below, with the total number representing overall consumption in project units. The BuzzAngle Hitmakers chart represents year-to-date consumption through Nov. 2.
